making them the most comfortable as they transition into this new journey and new version of themselves. Every baby that we have is a new life added to the family unit and the environmental dynamic; someone that you have to pay attention to, get acquainted to, and figure out how to best run your new(er) life.
Postpartum doula care is now being offered to women and other birthing people across Honolulu, Hawai’i and surrounding areas.
Plan your postpartum like you are planning a wedding! You carried that gorgeous spirit inside of you for 10 months, the least you can give yourself is some love and pampering during the after-birth period.
"It takes a village" is the mentality behind many cultures and raising children, so why would we punish ourselves into doing it alone? Whether familial help or paid help, you are not alone!
In many cultures, the recommended rest time is 40 days after birth; this is where the western idea of "6 to * weeks after birth for recovery" come in to play. We are traditionally supposed to love, nourish, and gently ease ourselves back into regular life, taking that time to center ourselves, get used to to the new family dynamics, and bond with the new life.
40 days or nourishment.
40 days of peace.
40 days of love.
Planning your postpartum is going to be your key to success in this new endeavor.
What mental support do you have lined up? Any resources just in case they are needed?
What are your goals for personal care and time? What are your goals for time with your partner?
Food preparation or a savings account for takeout food and DoorDash?
Personal weekly cleaning schedule or hire a cleaning team.
And laundry drop-off still exists in 2024? Hell yes it does!
You can fully prepare and plan out the entire 40 days, 6 weeks, or even 6 months postpartum to better help you transition into this new family dynamic. And a postpartum doula can help with all of that!
Between you and your baby, we need a good food schedule to better support us physically, mentally, and emotionally. For baby, whether bottle feeding, breastfeeding, or even exclusive pumping, I have the resources for you. Having currently taken multiple feeding courses and fed babies in many different ways, there is support here for you.
YOU are number one, and that includes all of you. Feelings of depression, isolation, and negativity are not allowed around here! 1 in 5 women will suffer from postpartum depression of some kind and 1 in 3 of those will turn into postpartum psychosis. Our priority is talking through our feelings and thoughts to better handle each moment in this new chapter of life.
All things baby! Breastfeeding, feeding in general, diapering, cloth diapering, vaccines, circumcision, the first forty days, I am educated in all things "baby". I am educated in feeding baby, baby sleep schedules, growing schedules, food, developmental activities, and so much more!
